About the author

Mark Lawrence is married with four children, one of whom is severely disabled. His day job is as a research scientist focused on various rather intractable problems in the field of artificial intelligence. He has held secret level clearance with both US and UK governments. At one point he was qualified to say 'this isn't rocket science … oh wait, it actually is'.
Between work and caring for his disabled child, Mark spends his time writing, playing computer games, tending an allotment, brewing beer, and avoiding DIY.

    The first part of one of the most amazing trilogies I have ever read. Utterly compelling but must be read all the way to the last page of the last book to even understand and then read again and again for pure nourishment of the mind

    Absolutely loved it! Tried the sample as I was unsure about this book, couldn't even put it down so I bought it. Finished it within a few days of not being able to put it down. Now to read the next two :).

    I was a little bit reticent about buying this book, even at the special price of £1. And now that I've read the book, I feel guilty at only having paid the said pound. What a great read, all you could want in a fantasy novel. Action aplenty, great characters, and a new story line. This book is well worth the money.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It looks at choices we make in a whole new light. In this case a dark and evil one. P Where you see 1 star reviews for this book based on some blank pages in the formatting you should ignore them and rely instead on the story telling and madness of the main character. Whilst I am writing this I am waiting for the next book to download as I don't want to wait any longer for the next installment!
