And like most of humanity, Wade is obsessed by the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this alternate reality: OASIS founder James Halliday, who dies with no heir, has promised that control of the OASIS - and his massive fortune - will go to the person who can solve the riddles he has left scattered throughout his creation.

For years, millions have struggled fruitlessly to attain this prize, knowing only that the riddles are based in the culture of the late twentieth century. And then Wade stumbles onto the key to the first puzzle.

Suddenly, he finds himself pitted against thousands of competitors in a desperate race to claim the ultimate prize, a chase that soon takes on terrifying real-world dimensions - and that will leave both Wade and his world profoundly changed.

    This book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I know little about 80’s pop culture, yet I could not stop reading this book from start to finish. It’s one of those books that’s disappointing when you finish it because you just want it to go on forever. This is one of my all time favourite books, no doubt about that. It’s a must read for literally everyone.

    Downloaded this if I got bored on holiday, didn’t even glance at it until I was on the flight home, finished it the next morning, brilliant read, like a galactic treasure hunt which will enthral anyone who’s even a little nerdy.

    Love the concept but I also agree that unless you're a gamer it's hard to follow. If you like stuff like this, try Terry Schott's The Game is Life series. You won't be let down.
