About the author

Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction.She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.

    A great trilogy. Characters you want to read about, a good plot and well written, such that both my wife and I have flown through all 3 books. Prior to buying, I was worried the magical elements may be too much for me to enjoy, but they form part of the story rather than being about them, and are really believable. I now think of my own family and dog as 'pack' though I've not yet been able to 'skill' to them! The fist book is great, the second better. The mountain trail is a little long in the third, but the ending is excellent. I'm really looking forwards to reading more about Fitz, the Fool and Nighteyes in the next trilogy.

    This trilogy is absolutely brilliant for reader who loves sci-fi coupled with the medieval. Couldn't put it down and often read into the night. When will there be a film version? Book my ticket now.

    Robin Hobb writes with a style unlike any I have encountered. Her fresh ideas and insight were a complete pleasure. Whilst Fitz Chivalry is a wonderful and truly nobel character he owes much of that to his ever loyal companion. I will never look at a dog again without wondering "Are we pack!?"

    A literal Epic. A real soul capturing story, towards the later part of the 3rd book the end actually comes far too quickly but, a story well worth reading.
