    Alaska is a harsh environment but this writer gives a glimpse of its beauty too. Her powers of description make the snow child real and ethereal at the same time. One feels the call of the wild entwined with everyday life. I loved it.

    Based on a Russian fairy tale, this book was just about the most delightful story I have ever read. I felt I was in the story with the characters, it was so clearly described. I enjoyed every moment of it. Beginning with the building of the Snow Girl one night by the two main characters, and following on with the possibility that she came to life. As other characters were drawn into the story, it only added to the beautifully described landscape of Alaska. I could leave this book for a couple of years, then read it again. So wonderful I didn't want it to end. Well worth a read, you won't forget it.
