The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922. 
The story primarily concerns the young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his quixotic passion for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan. 
Considered to be Fitzgerald's magnum opus, The Great Gatsby explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess, creating a portrait of the Jazz Age that has been described as a cautionary tale regarding the American Dream.

    Love it. Never remember what it's about and then I read it again and go : oh yeah, it's about that. Not a great story but beautifully written.

    The writing itself is like American version of Charles Dickens, sometimes distracting much. The story is alright, plain and unexciting. The only climax I caught a glimpse in the story is the time when Gatsby says of course he can reverse the past.

    My A-level English literature class introduced me to this book & I'm now totally in love with it. The film is food but it can't beat the book! The shortness of the novel means you can re-read as much as you want & fall back in love with it all over again.
