    I found this book extremely useful for those who are early readers or those struggling to learn sounds. Working in a primary school with early readers and juniors who need additional help, I found this book a very good teaching aid. The interactive pages and accurate phonetic sounds keep them engaged and eager to continue reading. This has been a fantastic teaching tool even using it with EAL children as the accurate sounds and bright colourful pages help them engage and encourage copying of sounds and words.

    Wow, my v. reluctant 4 and 6 year olds both happily skipped through this - the 6 year old really struggles with reading, but this was so simple - just the right level for him to be able to pick up speed, and he really enjoyed the feeling of getting through a lot of a pages quickly - very satisfying for him, made a change to the usual reading frustration. Reading on a tablet with words you can tap on and sound out is definitely the future - so much less tortuous (for all concerned!) than the paper based alternative.

    I found the sound files attached to the letters and words really helpful. I used them with my pupil. He could check his pronunciation. It is great that he could self-check as it meant I didn't need to correct him. Great for developing independent reading and confidence. I also like the fact that only a few letters are introduced at a time. This helped him succeed at every stage. Really useful for beginner readers who are reluctant to read paper books!

    I used this with some beginner readers I teach on a 1:1 basis. They loved the quirky illustrations and the ratio of pictures to text is fantastic for beginner readers. The fact that the children can sound out words they do not know is invaluable for ensuring a positive reading experience, whilst at the same time helping secure sound/letter correspondence. A great resource for beginner readers to use at home or at school. Would definitely recommend.

    My son loved these stories, the brief animation at the end was a definite draw. He happily volunteered to read more than one of these at a sitting while is very reluctant to read normally. We have bought later ones in the series - hope they convert more of this series of books to iBooks. Would have been 5 stars except I found some of the controls a bit too sensitive - kept bringing up the menu or skipping pages by accident. Practice might help but if your child needs a finger/ pencil under words it can be a bit tricky.
