About the author

Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction.She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.

    I have re read the story before staring the 3rd book and it was like meeting up with friends again. I am with the characters, sharing their adventure and feeling their pain picturing the scenes clearly in my mind. Can't wait to start the next book to continue the epic tale.

    Once again I feel melancholy that this book is over. Just when I thought there wasn't much more that you could squeeze out of the characters, a whole bunch of surprises are sprung upon us, revitalising the story flow. Now it's me back to waiting for the epic conclusion.

    Never have I read and devoured so hungrily a book. Throughout Fitz's story, across all the stories, I have been enraptured. For me it is my favourite so far! Chapter 8! Can not wait for the next one. Seriously though I can't!!!

    Although I thoroughly enjoyed this the latest in the actions of Fitz and the fool. I was expecting more involvement with the character Bee Farseer and the hereditary magic she should possess. So my conclusion was that, Robin is teasing us with this story and it leaves one thinking the story could hypothetically cascade into endless directions. As you read you feel drawn to write along with robin and drive the story to your own feeling that this iconic hero that Fitz has become lost in direction by the mishaps he encounters. I also believe that reading the books in a specific order could lead you towards differing viewpoints . I don't think anyone could criticise Robin as her story unfolds, after all it's her story. She leaves you craving for the next adrenaline rush however the story unfolds. She could have spent many lifetimes exploring the avenues,these characters could Journey upon and still leave you wanting more. This work is so good and even though it's not perfect, that does not matter. In the overall view of an averagely educated reader , which ever direction your taken on by the story you know in your heart your in for a thrilling, emotional journey, across the spectrum of Central nervous system stimulants. So very addictive ! When's the follow up ? I want it yesterday !!!
